MOCAP Course Catalog Key

  • A/B = Indicates a course has a first semester (A) and a second semester (B)
  • The semesters can be taken individually (first and second halves)
  • Courses listed per semester will be paid twice for a full year of the course
  • FY = Full Year course does not have individual semesters
  • Numbers after the course name indicate the grade level (i.e. Mathematics 6 is a Mathematics course for 6th graders)
  • Roman Numerals after the course name indicate the level of courses (i.e. Spanish I, Spanish II, Spanish III)
  • MOCAP courses must use either a vendor’s teacher or an LEA’s teacher
  • The curriculum-only courses are only for LEA’s that use their own teacher
  • Private pay parents may work directly with vendors for enrollment and other options
  • Materials and book costs are separate from course price

MOCAP Registration Guidance

  • Local school districts and charter schools should connect with Course Providers directly to register resident students in MOCAP courses.
  • Students must follow the LEA’s enrollment procedure for virtual courses before registering with any MOCAP provider.
  • The online courseware provider must accept monthly payments based on progress, per Section 161.670.3(3) RSMo.
  • School districts and charter school shall monitor progress and success, per Section 161.670.3(7) RSMo.
  • The LEA may provide the educator for curriculum-only courses if one is available; otherwise the student shall find a course that the vendor supplies the Missouri appropriately certificated teacher. Curriculum-only courses are intended for school districts and charter schools that want to deliver courses virtually using their own educator.
  • Local school districts and charter schools must ensure statutory requirements are met for non-MOCAP courses per Section 162.1250 RSMo..
  • Districts grant diplomas, so please ensure course selections meet local district graduation requirements.
  • Students taking more than two courses must have an individualized learning plan
  • Any student who wishes to represent his/her school in interscholastic sports or activities must meet a number of statewide (MSHSAA) and local essential eligibility requirements. Students should contact their school’s athletic director or principal to review and discuss all necessary requirements for participation.
  • MOCAP courses listed as approved by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) are listed on the NCAA list of courses.
  • Primary Criteria for NCAA Review
  • Minimum Time in Course: To be considered, reviewed and approved, transcripts should list each courses start date and end date to report that the 6 week minimum requirement has been met.
  • Instruction Type: NCAA requires that you provide how online courses are graded. Whether they are computer graded by multiple choice, quizzes and exams only, by an instructor that provides instruction to the student for lessons, assignments and exams or both. NCAA does not approve computer graded courses, therefore students need to review the courses they enroll in to assure they are NCAA approved. Labeling this determination on the transcript will help in the review process.
  • Type of Credit: NCAA evaluates courses that meet the Core Requirement – ELA, Science, Social Studies, Math, etc. Elective courses are not considered.
  • Note: To quicken processing time include NCAA ID number.
